Specialist legal services in insolvency, marine and sports offered by Portsmouth firm, Verisona Law, have all maintained top positions in the latest edition of one of the profession’s largest and most prestigious independent guides, The Legal 500.
Having taken a huge leap in the rankings of the Legal 500 last year as a result of a number of groundbreaking and high profile cases, Verisona Law’s Insolvency and Business Turnaround Team has gone from strength to strength by being placed in the guide’s Band 2 for insolvency in South East.
Recognised as being ‘particularly strong on contentious matters’, ‘always meeting response deadlines’ and having ‘a focus on continuity and building relationships’, members of the award-winning team also received individual praise in the 30th edition of the guide, which is based on client feedback.
Associate Director Stephen Ryde-Weller, who joined the team in April 2016, was noted as having ‘superb speed of response’ and being ‘incredibly clear on legal points’, Consultant David Oliver’s successful representation of directors against a £1.1m wrongful trading claim contributed to his ‘thoroughly professional’ reputation, and Director Michael Dyer was commended for being an ‘extremely sound and level-headed lawyer’.
‘This was the best write up we have had in the Legal 500 to date,’ says Director and Head of the firm’s Insolvency and Business Turnaround team, Nick Oliver, who himself was singled out in the guide as one of only four ‘Leading Individuals’ in the region in relation to insolvency work. Nick was referred to in the guide as ‘one of the most technically adept insolvency solicitors’ with an ability to find ‘innovative solutions to complex issues’.
‘Each year we improve our position and it is the testimony of our clients about how they find working with us and their views on the specialist expertise and experience of the team that is tremendously satisfying.’
Also recognised as a Leading Individual in his sector of Marine Law due to a ‘pragmatic and commercial’ approach and ‘breadth and depth knowledge of the practicalities of yacht construction and yacht operations’ is Director, Tim Reynolds. Tim’s expertise and success see Verisona Law named for ‘Shipping’ in the South East Transport section of the guide.
Finally, Verisona Law’s constant support and advice to Portsmouth Football Club, which recently contributed to the smooth transition into new ownership, and other sporting organisations has seen the firm feature in a third time in the guide for Sport.
‘Our regular presence in the Legal 500 for a number of niche services is very reflective of Verisona Law as a firm,’ says Managing Director, Sue Ball. ‘We have some of the region’s best legal talent in a variety of specific areas which come together to provide wide-ranging expertise with personal, attentive service.’
