Inquiry into failings of maternity services in Nottingham University Hospitals Trust

June 13th, 2022

Following the recent harrowing report of expert midwife, Donna Ockenden, into the multiple cases of inadequate care and work practices in the maternity unit at Shrewsbury & Telford Hospitals, Ms Ockenden has agreed to chair an enquiry into the poorly performing Nottingham University Hospitals Trust where worrying numbers of baby deaths and injuries have also been reported. This appointment has been driven by many families’ local campaigns for improvement in service quality.

An interim report is expected as early as later this month to identify any urgent changes needed to avoid any further avoidable harm. Up to 590 families have already been contacted regarding treatment and care at the hospitals under this Trust.

We have decades of experience in obstetric cases involving catastrophic injuries and death to mothers and babies as a result of substandard maternity care in both the NHS and private practice. Please do get in touch if you have any concerns regarding care received at the Trust during your pregnancy and if you or your children have suffered any loss or damage as a result.

Claims against the Trust can be brought up to 3 years after a death, or 3 years after the 18th birthday of a child. In some cases there is in fact no time limit and we can advise you upon this.
