Overview

As a solicitors practice, Verisona Law (“VL”) receives personal information from clients, and/or information about its clients from third parties. Such information is entrusted to VL in confidence and clients have the legitimate expectation that their privacy will be respected and that information relating to them will be treated as confidential. VL also has professional obligations under the Solicitors’ Code of Conduct to protect clients’ confidential information, in addition to its obligations to meet the requirements of the Data Protection Act 1998 and the Human Rights Act 1998.

Overview

There is a common misconception that if you die without making a Will, ‘it doesn’t matter because my spouse will get it anyway’.
Unfortunately this is not always the case. Many people also mistakenly believe that a long term partner will benefit even if there is not a Will. This is not the case. If you do not have a Will and you are not married, then your partner will not receive anything under the intestacy rules, whether it is a long term partner or not.
