Verisona Law have been instructed to act for over 150 survivors of historic childhood abuse in children’s homes under the Lambeth Children’s Homes redress scheme.
The scheme went live in January 2018 and we are in the process of securing a substantial amount of redress for our clients.
Shirley Oaks Survivors Association (SOSA) have fought tirelessly on behalf of hundreds of survivors and in 2017, Lambeth Council accepted that these individuals were psychologically, physically and/or sexually abused in their care. SOSA is a support group that has been set up to listen and document the accounts of those who have suffered or witnessed a variety of horrific abuse whilst in care in Lambeth Children's Homes.
All former residents of Lambeth children’s homes and Shirley Oaks Primary School will be eligible and the scheme includes a “Harm’s Way Payment” of up to £10,000. The aim of this payment is to compensate former residents for the environment they were subjected to whilst in Lambeth children’s homes and does not depend upon whether or not a person was subjected to abuse whilst they were in the care of Lambeth. Children that were subjected to abuse in foster placements whilst under the care of Lambeth are also eligible under the scheme. Former residents who were sexually, physically, racially and/or psychologically abused are also entitled to further redress under the “Individual Redress Payment”.
The redress scheme is open until 2 January 2020 so if you have been affected or know someone who may have been, please consider getting in touch today. You do not need to be local to our offices and we can act on and do act on behalf of survivors who are currently living anywhere in the world.
