DO SOMETHING POSITIVE FOR 2018 – Make a Will: protect your family

Did you know that less than 60% of the population have written a Will?  It seems an astonishing figure and means that you may be one of those who haven't got around to it yet.

If that is the case, treasure your family, and do something positive for 2018 by making a Will, and/or a Lasting Powers of Attorney.

Either of these documents should be a MUST to everyone. No-one should think that by considering these documents, it is tempting fate, but in fact, considering and completing such documents helps to keep your finances organised for either your executors or your attorneys to step in and protect your assets.

The Will:

This document ensures that you financially provide for your loved ones, whether it is money or personal belongings. Do not assume that your loved ones will automatically receive these.

The Lasting Powers of Attorney:

These documents help you plan your health, your wellbeing and your financial affairs. Incapacity does not just affect the elderly, but can also result from illness or accident.

These documents can also help with the management of your business should anything befall a business owner.

Unfortunate accidents can happen to anyone. We would all like to think we are immortal but sadly that is not the case. Whether we are young or old, we should all consider the importance of completing Wills and Lasting Powers of Attorney.

“If it had not been for the EPA I would have had real problems even discussing my mother’s affairs with banks, investment companies, government departments and care providers, much less paying her bills from her account.

“Being able to supply copies of the EPA to the various parties meant they would speak to me and act on my instructions. Without it I would have had to pursue a long, complicated and expensive legal process – at a very difficult time personally.

“I would absolutely recommend planning ahead and making an LPA. It could make a huge difference to your loved ones.”

"We have now received all of the information for the deputyship. We are delighted with the outcome. I would like to take the opportunity to say thank you for your work and support. It was a difficult thing for us due to the circumstances, but you made it easy and that really helped.

Thank you also for the settlement of the account, we are very grateful. I have friends who have Autistic children and adults I will recommend you in the future".
